I initially picked this book because I thought it would be something that my 14 year old son would enjoy reading. I must say that by the time I was into the first few chapters I was really enjoying the book myself. The author really portrays the fictional characters as real people, with thoughts, emotions and fears that we all have. Especially when we at 17/18 and in our senior year of high school, as the main character, Charlie, and his friends are. There is plenty of action and intrigue to capture the readers attention as Charlie goes back home to solve the murder he is accused of, and to try to gain back that year he has mysteriously lost. I highly recommend this book to any teen or pre-teen readers who enjoy adventure and mystery. The additional topics that are brought to the fore-front in this book as the main character struggles with trying to find out who the real Charlie West is, are something most young people do go through at some point in their lives when they are in their mid to late teens as they are getting closer to the point where they are getting ready to enter the grown up world. I am definitely planning on having my son reading this book, probably for his English class in 8th grade where the kids get to pick a book.
