Now this is not normally the type of book that I will read. But I decided to go out on a limb and give it a try. It did take me some time to get into it, but once I did I really did have a fun time reading this book.
I like how this book defines Cupidity:
Cupidity is not love, it is a cheap imitation of love. It is often entered into as a result of desperation, selfishness, or even self-preservation.,,,And because its focus is somewhere on self instead of on the other person, it ultimately leads you to lose out on love.
I can not say that I truly learned a lot from this book, but it did remind me of a lot of things I have not really though of or have just thought of in the past. Personally at this time I am not really looking for True Love… been there done that and going through the divorce currently. But what this book did give me was glimpses of ways that I might have handled things differently during my nearly 15 year marriage. Would these things have saved my marriage, no I do not really thinks so, but I do think that I would have been a better person in the past if I would have acted and reacted differently, and this book brought that realization to the forefront of my mind.
One of my favorite quotes from the book is this:
Your feelings must have a foundation in faith; only then can they be experienced to their fullest without sin.
There is plenty of humor in this book to keep you turning the pages, and as I have said the information is good and something that we as humans need to be reminded of from time to time. Especially as we are always either in Love with someone or on the search for our one true love. So no matter what stage your Love life is in I think that this book is a good fit for you to read.
